Last night I attended an evening of masked art and fashion to celebrate the premiere of TNT’s post-apocalyptic drama, “The Last Ship,” airing on Sunday, June 22. Hosted at Dia 545 gallery, the exhibition named, “Survival Is An Art: The Last Ship Experience” featured creative and adorned original gas masks by artists Tom Banwell, Bob Basset, Singer Blake, Wren Britton, Gary Lockwood and Nathan Vincent. The event also featured a fashion show of 20 one-of-a-kind creations by Munich-based couture designer Irene Luft.
Stars from the series, Eric Dane (aka Grey’s Anatomy’s Mcsteamy) and Rhona Mitra were in attendance and gave the opening remarks prior to the fashion show. Charming and humorous, Dane said, “I would ask you to watch the show but instead I’m going to beg.”
“Survival Is An Art: The Last Ship Experience” is open today for one day only and can be seen at DIA 545, 545 West 22nd Street.
